Admin Studio 2013 R2 Repackager Issues

You would think the “Leading Company” in application remediation would follow their own standards that they push on their customers.  We moved to Flexera when Wise Package Studio was shelved (that is a whole other topic). Since version 10, we have had nothing but issues and bugs that make the suite almost unusable.  When 2013 was released, the repackager would not add all the keys and files to the MSI when built.  This is supposed to be fixed with 2013 R2.  Prior to spending the $xx,000.00 for the Admin Studio Complete SI license maintenance, I figured I would give it another test. You would think Flexera would actually beta test their products prior to releasing it.  Here is the first issue I ran into.

Problem:
When launching the Standalone Repackager for 2013 sp2

“the program can’t start because the AdminUIFramework9.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program…”

Solution:
Starting with version 2013 R2 of Adminstudio the repackager needs to be launched using Repack.exe as opposed to Islc.exe which is no longer supported with running the repackager either Standalone or Remotely. The Flexera Engineering department is aware that the shortcut still points to Islc.exe and this will hopefully be fixed soon.

In summary, launch the Repackager using the Repack.exe.  This means redirect your shortcut after install.
